With the population increasing it is only natural that Australia has started to embrace apartment living. With new apartment buildings focusing on the trend of quantity of apartments rather than space, our living areas are likely to become a little more compact. Scandinavian design has already championed small space design innovation and now Evolvex has lots of personalised solutions for small spaces with the emphasis on simple form and function. Here’s some inspiration to get you designing and thinking about making the most out of the space you have.

The contents of the mansion where Michael Jackson’s lifeless body was found went under the auction hammer this weekend, reaping three times pre-sale estimates for a total of close to $1 million.
A month after Dr. Conrad Murray was convicted of involuntary manslaughter for the pop star’s 2009 death by drug overdose, collectors bid on some 500 items from the home Jackson rented in Los Angeles while preparing for comeback concerts in London.
Two sessions on Saturday at the Beverly Hills gallery of Julien’s Auctions were standing room only, according to a statement from Julien’s, and drew bidders from around the world. The auction lots consisted mostly of paintings, furniture and ornaments.
Among the highlights was a Victorian Revival-style bedroom suite that sold for $25,075. The set includes an armoire on whose ornate mirror the “Thriller” singer wrote a message in felt pen: “Train, perfection March April Full out May” — presumably a reference to rehearsals for London’s “This Is It” concerts set to start that July.
Other highlights included an 18th-century French clock, which sold for $9,375, a Regency-style desk ($4,375) and “Venus Blinding Cupid,” an oil painting modeled on one by 16th-century artist Titian ($11,250).
A pottery rooster holding a chalkboard with a note from Jackson’s children — Prince, Paris and Blanket — sold for $5,000.
Only a handful of auction items bore a personal connection to the singer and his family. Most were part of the rented surroundings.
“Anything associated with Michael Jackson is highly collectible,” ,” auctioneer Darren Julien said in the lead-up to the auction.
The ornate headboard on the bed where Jackson’s body was found on June 25, 2009, was removed from the sale last month at the request of Jackson’s family.
Whilst we all perhaps do not have the time to create beautiful, interesting things with unlikely items, it is always uplifting to see what others can produce and begin to consider how we can make something similar of our own.
Step one: Take 500,000 cigarettes.
Step two: Consider these objects carefully.
Step three: Make one kick-ass Mock Tiger Skin Rug.
This latest work by Chinese artist Xu Bing is an incredible creation. Primarily it is an artwork intended to highlight global tobacco trade, culture and how easily humans are tempted into the world of deadly habits. I suppose the bonus is the absolute awe that comes with seeing something so huge built up of five hundred thousand tiny objects.

This is a shout out to my fellow young collectors, and of course, anyone else who is lusting over our White Bookcase.
With the size of houses shrinking and ones undying need to indulge in the odd retail therapy session, if your house looks anything like my own the clutter is ever building. But stress no more! Tickle your self-indulging retail needs with our White Bookcase, and if you’re anything like myself I couldn’t help but start shopping for some extra little trinkets to help bring closure to those empty spaces.

Citrus is trending in interiors right now and it is time to take the opportunity to brighten up your home for summer. There are a variety of tones in the citrus colour palette but the three main colours are yellow, orange and green (conveniently all available in the Evolvex Designer!).
When designing a room you need to not only find a room comfortable or beautiful. You need to be happy with how the room makes you feel while you are in the space.
For example:
Yellow (warm)- energy, freshness, joy
Orange (warm)- endurance, creativity, vitality
Green (cool)- hope, nature, harmony
Citrus colours are complementary and can be used on their own or in more bold, colour blocking design. They are versatile colours that mix well with exposed wood, white, black, browns and for the brave, blues and pinks. Just a small injection of these deliciously fruity colours, such as on the doors of a cabinet or shelving in a bookcase, can add a refreshing, lively energy to a room. Here is some juicy inspiration to help you get designing.

Lately I’ve been dreaming about living in beautiful white spaces and after coming across Studio Pha, a practice based in Prague, I think I may be one step closer.
This project is called the Family House and lives in the east village of Klokočná. With a traditional barn conversion, you can’t go wrong once it’s paired with some stellar contemporary design. The most exciting part about unusual architectural angles is what happens inside:

Video: A Tiny Apartment Transforms into 24
It was probably a year ago when I first came across the transforming apartment via Planet Green. This video has been sitting in my bookmarks ever since, until this morning. Thanks to the beauty that is Apartment Therapy, I was reminded of what a truly impressive creation it is. The beauty of design is the ability for simple things to keep changing and to transform and it seems Gary Chang is definitely taking hold of this notion.
Imagine a 330 square foot apartment transforming into 24 different variations of a home. If only we could pull out every TV wall to find a kitchen and slide back every wall of books to find our very own bathtub. Gary Chang seems like a genius to me.
I also can’t help but think this somehow ties back our very own Evolvex range. While all of us may not be handy enough to throw together our own architecturally brilliant creation of an apartment, we still can find out own little way to be creative and design our own furniture. Be sure to check it out here.

Evolvex is a new, Australian-made flat pack alternative to the obvious flat pack solutions we all know. But this offering is certified environmentally sound, and is customizable, interchangeable, and delivered straight to your door. Bonus. Lost At E Minor
“I loved finding Evolvex Furniture the other day. This simplistic, stylish and super affordable range of self-assemble furniture is a breeze to put together.” Sydney On A Shoestring
There are plenty of good reasons to buy Evolvex: it’s family-run, Australian-owned and better for the environment. But despite the altruism, we’ve discovered our interest in Evolvex is embarrassingly superficial – it looks nice and we want. The Agenda Daily
Besides being of a high enough quality to withstand my shenanigans, Evolvex furniture is also aesthetically pleasing; the panels and cushions come in a variety of colours and because each part is meant to be interchangeable, the design is sleek and minimalist. A Caucus Race
Evolvex furniture is modular and minimal and they probably have something very practical that you need in your house right now. The Thousands
LOVE LOVE LOVE! Thank you to all our supporters on Facebook and Twitter.
